Is It Even Debatable?

Well, apparently (thankfully) not. But Wednesday morning on "The Lodge" the ever-looming question came up:

Resign K-Rod or Teixeira?

Granted, neither Roger Lodge or Dave Smith admitted to this being a difficult choice, but the fact that they wasted 4 hours of airtime taking callers opinions on it atleast made for a couple good responses. Thankfully, no one said K-Rod. As if it's even debatable...

K-Rod wants 15M a year for something like 6 bagillion years. *Tangent: the save is the MOST overrated statistic in ALL of professional sports. The "closer" comes in for one inning (at most). Why is the guy who comes in in the 7th inning with 1 out and runners on 2nd and 3rd considered more valuable then this guy? There's more, but -- end Tangent.*In this case, K-Hole, I mean Rod, comes in most ALWAYS with the bases empty in the 9th inning. He's terrible at keeping inherited runners from scoring hence the previous sentence. He has a miserable 1.29 WHIP (Walks+Hits divided by innings pitched) and a blah 2.86 ERA for a relief pitcher. He has a handful of one out saves and has pitched a total of 50 innings. Do the math and if he gets 15M a year, we'll say he pitches 70 innings this year (not likely), that comes out to $214,285 per inning pitched. That's a lot of money considering those are all not even quality innings.

I thought about dishing up the Teixeira stats showing how much better he is than K-Rod and how much more he is worth than him, but that will come tomorrow. Trust me, there is PLENTY!
